February 20, 2014

One Year-Old Downtown Facility Wins LEED Silver Certification;

Highlights Utility’s Focus on Customer Service and Energy Efficiency

Public Service Electric and Gas Company’s (PSE&G) New Brunswick Customer Service Center recently received silver certification from the prestigious Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) program. LEED is a U.S. Green Building Council initiative that provides a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions as well as third-party verification of green buildings.

The PSE&G New Brunswick Customer Service Center, which opened in February, 2013, incorporates all of the elements required for the design, construction and operation of a high performance green building, including energy efficient LED light fixtures with occupant sensors, low-flow plumbing fixtures that reduce water use, high efficiency heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and energy efficient windows.

“PSE&G has a long-standing commitment to New Jersey’s environment,” said Joe Forline – vice president, customer solutions for PSE&G. “We are already investing more than $1 billion in energy efficiency and solar programs that directly benefit our customers, so it makes sense that we would extend our commitment to the environment by making our customer service centers as green as possible.”

The New Brunswick facility is the fourth PSE&G customer service center that has been awarded LEED silver certification, joining similar centers in Paterson, Passaic and Trenton. The Jersey City Customer Service Center, which opened in October, 2013, is currently being evaluated for LEED certification.

The New Brunswick Customer Service Center is located at 317 George Street. It is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) is New Jersey’s oldest and largest regulated gas and electric delivery utility, serving nearly three-quarters of the state’s population. PSE&G is the winner of the ReliabilityOne Award for superior electric system reliability. PSE&G is a subsidiary of Public Service Enterprise Group Incorporated (PSEG) (NYSE:PEG), a diversified energy company (www.pseg.com).
